University of Illinois College of Medicine. The University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria is responsible for the education and hand-on teaching of second through fourth year medical students. There are approximately 150 students on the Downstate Medical Center's campus which includes neighboring Methodist Medical Center of Illinois and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
